The Gropius House
conscious of the New England vernacular, the Gropius House blends the standardized elements of modernism with the unique charm of the New England architectural language. The residence served as the Gropius family's home during Walter Gropius' tenure at the GSD. The house's footprint is modest, lightening its impact on the surrounding landscape. Materials used in the facade are brick, clapboard, and glass. These materials are used in conjunction with a color palette of black, white, grey, earth tones, and splashes of red.
